Here are some important updates for the 2023 registration process:

  • We have a new, online application for 2023 (link coming soon). 
  • Returning teams will be allotted a 30-minute grace period to register for the spot you had last year.  Please be on the lookout for a special email link that will grant you access 30 minutes before other teams.  This link will be sent to you on the morning of February 7th.  The link will NOT be active until 5:30pm.
  • To reserve your spot you must pay a minimum of a 25% deposit.  All balances are due by June 23, 2023.  
  • Once a space has been reserved, it will no longer be available for purchase online.  
  • We are limited to 17 vendor spaces.  These are the only BBQ vendors that will be allowed during the event.  NEW THIS YEAR:  Vending teams are NOT required to compete.  However, you are required to participate in the People’s Choice Event on Saturday from 10:30am – 4pm. Please indicate on the team application whether you intend to compete or not.  
  • Registration for all other teams will open promptly at 6pm.

The 22nd Annual SC Festival of Discovery will take place in the heart of Uptown Greenwood in Greenwood, South Carolina, July 6-8, 2023.

We only have 17 vending spaces available for our event. These spots WILL GO FAST!  So if you are interested in vending, you will need to reserve your space quickly. 

Vending spaces are identified on the Layout Map (Spaces 54-69).


  • If you are vending in spaces 54-63, the fee to vend is $800.
  • If you are vending in spaces 64-69, the fee to vend is $500.
  • To maximize space, all vending spaces are 20x40 (no exceptions)
If you are a vending team you will need to plan accordingly to participate in People’s Choice.  This is more accommodating to Festival attendees. New to 2023: Vendors are NOT required to compete in the KCBS competition.

Your space is not guaranteed until you have sent your APPLICATION and PAID YOUR DEPOSIT.

  • In order to secure your spot, you must pay at least a 25% deposit (of your total entry fee) via the online application. 
  • Payment of the balance can be made by check (via mail) or online. 
NOTE:   4% fee applies to online payment.  If you cancel for any reason, we cannot refund this 4% fee.

Your fee must be paid in its entirety by June 23, 2023 or you may forfeit your spot to another team.
