Mayor Turns The Uptown Fountain "Pink"
October 13, 2011
Greenwood, SC - Greenwood Mayor Welborn Adams turned the Uptown Greenwood Fountain pink today in recognition of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“I received a request from a citizen that we follow the established tradition of many other communities and as a city recognize the importance of breast cancer awareness,” Mayor Welborn Adams said.
“I don’t think there is anyone who hasn't had a friend or loved one touched by breast cancer. By dying the fountain, we hope to add to the awareness of this cause,” Adams said.
Hoyt Dorn, Senor Community Manager of the American Cancer Society stated, "Having the fountain turned pink is a wonderful way to draw attention and awareness to breast cancer.”
