Mustang Sally To Open Uptown Concert Series

Greenwood, SC - The streets in Uptown Greenwood will come alive again with the return of the Live After Five free concert series.
One Thursday night a month from March 20th through October 16th, the air will be filled with music as award winning performers take the stage from 5:30 – 8 pm at the Countybank plaza.
Not only does the music line up for this year’s series include a broad spectrum of music ranging from country, R & B, beach, and rock, but it will also feature special performances by area school groups.

“We are revamping the Live After Five concert series for 2008” said Angie Jones, manager of Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation (UGDC). “Not only do we have a fantastic line, but we have also partnered with area schools to showcase the talented youth in our community."
"I am also pleased to announce that Hack Bartley has joined us as Artistic Director of the concert series. Hack is very active in the Greenwood community and an award winning musician in his own right.” |

“UGDC, Hack Bartley, and the City of Greenwood are working hard together with local merchants to encourage increased pedestrian traffic in the Uptown area. The Live After Five Concert Series is a great way for Greenwood residents and visitors to enjoy our beautiful community,” said Jones. “We believe the success of the concert series proves that people want to see more events held not just in Uptown, but Greenwood as a whole.”

Mustang Sally Thursday, March 20 |
The concert series kicks off Thursday, March 20th with the sounds of Mustang Sally. Mustang Sally is an all girl group from Nashville that has played with the likes of Le Ann Rimes, Mark Chestnut and .38 Special. Drawing from diverse backgrounds and musical influences, Mustang Sally has developed into a hot seven piece band that offers edgy country music with a contemporary feel and traditional roots. |
Sponsored by Mathis Plumbing, Heating and Air, the event also features special performances by groups from Northside Middle and Matthews Elementary Schools.
Folks attending the concerts should bring their lawn chairs and dancin’ shoes and enjoy a fun-filled evening in Uptown Greenwood. Food vendors will be on hand and Uptown Restaurants will be open ready to meet all of the public’s needs.
