2008 Gingerbread House Competition

- SIZE AND OTHER JUDGING CRITERIA:

- The Gingerbread entry is not to exceed 2 feet in height, 2 feet in width, or 2 feet in depth, including the board used as a base. We suggest using ½” or ¾” plywood as a base for your entry. Bases may not be higher than 1 ½”.

| Entries must be primarily constructed of gingerbread and will be judged in five categories:
- OVERALL APPEARANCE
- ORIGINALITY/CREATIVITY
- DIFFICULTY
- PRECISION
- CONSISTENCY IN THEME

There are four main entry groups: (Youth) 12 & Under, (Teen) 13 & Over, Adults including Amateur and Professional.
Teen & Youth Entries may receive some adult supervision in any baking; however, the entry submitted must be designed, constructed, and decorated mainly by the entrants. All rulings by the judges are independent and final.
MATERIALS:
Except for the base, entries must be made primarily of gingerbread and composed of edible products. Edible materials are not limited to sweets. No artificial display materials, such as Styrofoam or interior lighting, are to be used in the construction of the house. Candies must be unwrapped.
DELIVERY/JUDGING:
There is NO entry fee. Entry forms must accompany each entry. Each entry will be assigned a number as they are delivered for judging purposes.
Each entry must be delivered to the Arts Center at the Federal Building on the following dates: November 3-7, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., or by appt. but no later than November 7th.
Judges will meet on Friday, November 21 to select best in each entry category; however, public judging for one People’s Choice Award will be voted upon during the Uptown Holiday Shopping Weekend, November 15th-16th throughout the various businesses displaying the entries. A map and ballots will be provided at the Arts Center at the Federal Building.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS:
Winners will be announced and there will be an award ceremony during First Friday Festivities at 6:00 p.m. on December 5 at the Arts Center at the Federal Building. The public will be invited to join us as we announce all winners and present all gift certificates/prizes.
