First Friday - Uptown Greenwood
In 2007 Uptown Greenwood partnered with the Greenwood Arts Council, the Greenwood Visitors and Tourism Bureau, The Museum and the Greenwood Community Theatre to create an event aimed at introducing a wider audience to the unique vitality of the artists and venues of Greenwood. First Friday In Uptown promotes interest in the arts by making it accessible, thereby strengthening the arts community in Greenwood. We invite artists, musicians, groups, galleries and businesses to be a part of this cultural event. On the first Friday evening of every month the streets fill with art lovers of all kinds who wander among participating Uptown venues, enjoying art and people watching, eating at Uptown Greenwood’s restaurants and just plain mingling. Most of the activities are free and take place between 6 and 9 p.m.

Celebrate The Arts During First Friday
Uptown will be hopping with activities during this month’s edition of First Friday. From 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. this Friday, September 2, 2011, Uptown Greenwood will play host to a variety of events including:

'Undisciplined'
Meridian
'Undisciplined' is the latest exhibit on display at Meridian and features the latest work by Elizabeth Nason.
A reception will be held for the artist from 5 - 7 PM and is open to the public.
The exhibit will be on display thru September 16th.

Howard’s On Main
Works from Meridian artists will be on display. Also a performance by Soul Vibe in the Back Room Bar beginning at 8:00pm. (Cover charge applies).
TW Boons
Performance by Lockaby Hall and Mojo, UPSTAIRS from 8:30—11pm. (Cover charge applies).
