First Friday - Uptown Greenwood
In 2007 Uptown Greenwood partnered with the Greenwood Arts Council, the Greenwood Visitors and Tourism Bureau, The Museum and the Greenwood Community Theatre to create an event aimed at introducing a wider audience to the unique vitality of the artists and venues of Greenwood. First Friday In Uptown promotes interest in the arts by making it accessible, thereby strengthening the arts community in Greenwood. We invite artists, musicians, groups, galleries and businesses to be a part of this cultural event. On the first Friday evening of every month the streets fill with art lovers of all kinds who wander among participating Uptown venues, enjoying art and people watching, eating at Uptown Greenwood’s restaurants and just plain mingling. Most of the activities are free and take place between 6 and 9 p.m.

A Midsummer Night's Dream, a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare, portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors in a moonlit forest. Their interactions will the fairies who inhabit this forest and Duke of the Athenians provide delightful humor. |

- Bill Updegraff and Suzanne Burnes Art Exhibit - Reception from 5:30 - 7:30 PM to include light refreshments at the Arts Center at the Federal Building (120 Main Street)
- Rebecca Coates, Art Major at Erskine College, presents her senior exhibit at Jimary Java (330 Main Street)
- Kendall Adams presents a 'collage' of photographs at Uptown Sushi Bar & Cafe (217 Waller Avenue)
- Dr. Bob Taylor of Taylor Galleries will have the gallery open as well as the new upstairs gallery, which will feature four new pieces in a Cubist style and a collection spanning over twenty years (327 Main Street)
