Maxwell Avenue Facades/Streetscape

Thursday, November 12 - Maxwell Avenue (SC 10) is now open for traffic following over one year of an intense streetscape project.  The contractor is completing the final 'punch list' for this project which includes the removal of the remaining construction debris behind the lower Maxwell City parking lot (dirt, asphalt, concrete, etc.).  A new phase of facade and parking lot improvements is set to take place along Long Alley and Maxwell Avenue.  This project is in design with construction to begin in the early spring of 2010.

Main Street Construction

Friday, June 20 -  The contractor proposes repairing areas of the new crosswalks that have failed.  Maintenance is planned to take place starting Monday, June 29 and will continue through Friday, July 3.  Anticipate one lane of traffic on the southbound and northbound sides of Main once the maintenance project begins.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

New Greenwood County Library

Friday, November 11 - Construction of the new Greenwood County Library is on schedule with a target completion date of June 2010.  Greenwood County Council accepted the bid of  Yeargin Potter Shackelford Construction in the amount of $7,545,000 to construct the new Greenwood County Library.  The new Library will be 44,000 square feet - more than twice the size of the current facility. Monument Street from the intersection of Washington Avenue to the intersection of Marion Avenue is now permanently closed.  This section of road has been deeded to the County and will become a part of the new library property. Construction plans have been developed by Craig, Gaulden, Davis and Davis & Floyd EngineersConstruction is anticipated to last a minimum of one year.  The new Greenwood County Library will be built on the former Winn Dixie location on South Main Street in Uptown Greenwood.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
