GREENWOOD, SC - Artists from the Horizon House and Burton Center had their creativity on display this week at the Art Center at the Federal Building in Uptown Greenwood. Spencer Karter, a 22 year-old artist who resides in Greenwood stated, "I'm getting my GED. I want to go back to school and get a degree in television broadcasting, or become a journalist." Karter's 'Geometric Face' concept was adopted as teh group piece of artwork that was completed by all the clients of the Horizon House.
Artist Mary Laymon, who is originally from Stonehall, Mississippi, has lived here in Greenwood for the last 37 years. Her creativity blossomed through her charcoal portrait of a woman. "Right now I am taking an art course through the mail and I will be 59 next month." Which, goes to show, once the 'art bug' has bitten, the possibilities are endless!
