DOWNLOAD MEETING AGENDA

GREENWOOD, SC – The Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation (UGDC) will host its upcoming annual meeting on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in the Arts Center at the Federal Building 120 Main Street.  Registration will begin at 8:30 AM with the meeting starting at 9 AM.

The keynote speaker will be Mr. Randall 'Randy' W. Hemann, Executive Director of Downtown Salisbury, Inc.  Randy has over twenty years of experience in downtown development in three towns/cities in North Carolina.   Randy's visit to Greenwood is co-sponsored by the Self Family Foundation

“We are thrilled to have a speaker with the hands on knowledge of Randy Hemann,” said UGDC Manager Angie Jones. “His experiences in Salisbury, North Carolina will be a positive message to hear for those interested in Uptown's present redevelopment.”

Downtown Salisbury is often heralded as one of the most successful mid-sized downtowns in North Carolina and rightfully so. Downtown Salisbury has seen some $60+ million of investment in their downtown since 1980. Another $15+ million has either just been completed or is underway with much of that work happening in the East Square Cultural District.

Created in 1983, UGDC’s mission is to promote economic growth in the Uptown area, coordinate the interest of the Uptown area with other organization and agencies for the benefit of Uptown and the community at large, encourage continued beautification, and sponsor, coordinate, and promote events and activities in order to maintain Uptown Greenwood's position as a focal point of the Greenwood community.

Uptown Greenwood is a special tax district with an area defined as follows: bound on the North by the main line of Seaboard Coastline Railroad, on the East by Seaboard-Pressley Street connector and Phoenix Street, on the South by Harvey and Washington Streets, and on the West by Edgefield Street.

Any property or business within these boundaries is considered a part of Uptown Greenwood and therefore, is entitled to have access to the benefits and services of the Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation.

The event gives Uptown property owners, merchants, and other interested citizens a chance to share ideas, hear from experts, hear about all the updates surrounding various construction projects, and socialize.
