Greenwood, SC -   Three colors representing three options.

That's what was presented to the public Thursday night as the City of Greenwood and consultants Seamon Whiteside and Associates hosted the final night of a week-long charrette process in which a consultant design team and the public cultivated ideas for a potential new farmers market/railroad center in Uptown Greenwood.

The proposed site for a new farmers market/railroad center is on the lower end of Maxwell Avenue, across the street from E.S. Moon's karate studio and Mill House pizza restaurant.

The charrette process included an introductory overview, a public input meeting, a site walk-through and three days of intense design sessions, all of which were open to the public.
The process led to Thursday night's presentation in which three designs - dubbed the Green Scheme, the Red Scheme and the Yellow Scheme - were presented to the public. Those in attendance Thursday were allowed to vote for which design they liked best and were encouraged to post notes on the designs to offer feedback to the consultants going forward.
Seamon Whiteside will take the votes and feedback into consideration and is set to issue a final recommendation to the city in June.

Beyond that, it will be up to Greenwood City Council to decide whether or not to move ahead with the project.

The current Greenwood Farmers Market will operate at its location just off Highway 72/221, near Legion Stadium, in 2011. The current Railroad Historic Center will continue operating at its South Main Street location in 2011.
