September 2010 - On September 20, 2010, construction is estimated to being on the parking lot located at the corner of Maxwell/Monument. We are calling this the "Long Alley Parking Lot". This project, funded partially through Hospitality Taxes and grant funding from the Department of Commerce, will enhance the recent improvements to Maxwell Avenue. Parking lot upgrades will include better stormwater retention and diversion, new landscaping, new lighting, brick dumpster screenings, improved handicapped accessibility, improved pedestrian access to Main Street, and improved public access for weekend and event parking. These improvements are estimated to be completed by December 25, 2010.
September 13, 2010 - Construction came early in the City of Greenwood as the Long Alley Parking Lot project kicked off this morning - 7 days ahead of schedule. See below for pictures of how demolition is progressing.
September 28, 2010 - Construction is progreesing nicely, with installation of curb and gutter throughout Phase 1 and some demolition taking place. See below for pictures of progress.
October 13, 2010 - AOS Specialty Services has completed the majority of the concrete work in Phase 1, including the installation of new planters throughout and new concrete dumpster pads. This morning, Satterfield Construction began the process of milling and resurfacing Phase 1. Construction is progressing well and the City is please with the work completed thus far. Continue to check for construction updates.
November 19, 2010 - Phase 2 of construction is well under way, with the installation of curb and gutter and planted medians being installed throughout.
February 2011 - CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE!!!
